As the summer arrives so too do the heats of 2007's annual Mr Gay UK! Saturday was the Queenshiling’s chance to sample some of Bristol's finest gay men... and boy were they fine!

Once again the Shilling was at it's best, with a pumped atmosphere and pulsating dance music the night was set to be a scorcher.

The guys paraded out one by one, and were introduced by their energetic and lively host who got all the revellers going. After a brief description of the lads the competition paused for the music (and drinking) to be resumed while votes were collected and counted.

At 1am the eagerly awaited results came in. In third place was 21-year-old student, Mark Porter, while second place went to 28-year-old Michael Pisaniello, who was taking a break from his job as cabin crew. Competition was stiff, but Bristol's Mr Gay 2007 went to baby-faced youngster, 19 year old event rider Alex Whewall, who looked more than pleased with his title. Let’s hope he can steal the crown at the August final in Blackpool.
