Oscars Night... UBU style...
review
A few words from Annabelle; President of Bristol Uni’s LGBT Society…
This Friday was the long-awaited Official UBU LGBT Fresher’s Bash – attracting many well-scrubbed student-types who gathered in the Shilling to mark to beginning of another 'academic' year.
It was clear from the outset that both the team at Q/S and the Bristol Uni LGBT society had pulled out all the stops to make ‘Oscars Night’ a glittering affair. Students from Bristol Uni, UWE, Bath, and Bath Spa waltzed down the red carpet and into the Shilling – with both the club and its guests dressed to impress. There was even an independent photo studio set up, for mementos of the night.
DJ Steve was on hand to satisfy even our most dubious musical whims until 4am, and our favourite Thursday night drag queen, Ruby Krystal, awarded clubbers with Oscars for various things from the best dancer to the worst dressed.
If Oscars Night is anything to go by, we've got a hell of a year ahead of us... roll on the Official UBU LGBT Xmas party!

The Queenshilling, or ‘Q/S’ as it’s affectionally known in these parts, has been an integral part of Bristol’s Gay scene for many years. Having recently benefited from a swanky refurbishment, the colour and style of the bustling bar area very much reflects the reputation the club upholds as the place to be out and be seen on the Bristol Gay scene.
