review
This Birthday party was certainly the envy of any unconventional, hard-house-hating four year old. Whilst the midnight technical glitches did resemble a somewhat impromptu round of musical chairs, the rest of the entertainment was far less old school.
Bernie whetted the appetite of early starters with a traditionally eclectic set, paving the way for an intense night of classic indie-electro records delivered by Lipstick On Your Collar and James L on the first floor. Upstairs was just as energetic with Ladiez Di(e) and the Breakfast Club keeping the less main-stream (and claustrophobic downstairs defectors) amused.
Yes - more stuffed to burst than ever before; more hilarious arm flailing than conversation, more Superdry than breathing space, and more familiar faces than is really comfortable when quite so inebriated - Wonky had excelled itself.
With such a reputation as party host however, there’s no doubt that the New Year’s Eve party will be securing its place in the diary of many a Bristol homo.
