review

Tonight saw the much anticipated launch of Bristol’s only weekly Indie-ish gay night.

Seeing the Shilling dance floor packed on a Monday night was a pleasure in itself..let alone the perfectly formed soundtrack for the night provided by the debuting Darcy Steele. Losing his DJ virginity with undoubted success, Darcy selected tracks from varying genres from Indie and Rock to Alternative and Electronica. The music policy indicates that it’s not necessarily about discovering new music but celebrating the music you love (and wouldn’t normally hear on the weekly scene)..

If you enjoy a break from the usual mix of dance music and cheese normally heard pumping across the dance floor the this may well be the night for you. With the potential to grow in strength, Treason has certainly hit the ground running and has the chance to breath new life into the weekly gay scene.

The tagline suggests that “The Queens have fallen”..perhaps they’re not falling-just dancing to a different beat!

about Queenshilling

The Queenshilling, or ‘Q/S’ as it’s affectionally known in these parts, has been an integral part of Bristol’s Gay scene for many years. Having recently benefited from a swanky refurbishment, the colour and style of the bustling bar area very much reflects the reputation the club upholds as the place to be out and be seen on the Bristol Gay scene.
