Starting our night with a bit of a free party/bar/Dawn Porter/CSS type experience it seemed only fitting that we should finish everything off in a bit of a mixed up Wonky way. Sometimes you can have too much of a good thing, so tonight after a brief break from our religious patronage month in month out, tonight was even more special.
Packed, but not too wonkyesque-packed in a ‘so packed you can’t move’ way, the club was brimming on both floors with smiles and dancing. Wonky is the place where flailing limbs in your face is de rigour, and if you don’t see a few faces from long lost times then it just doesn’t feel right.
Tonight the Taffs took their turn on the tables upstairs as Hell’s Bent, Cardiff’s newest Gay Alternative night, travelled over the bridge and showed Wonky how the Welsh do it... even bringing a few Celtic clubbers along for a celebratory birthday ride! Downstairs, Bernie and her stalwart sidekick James Land supplied the tunes in faithfully askew fashion, only making way for the debut of huge Wonky fan Karl aboard the ‘dexxx of love’.
A fantastic soundtrack to a night of familiar faces, fond farewells and a feeling that the buzz of Wonky is back with a bang!
loved it!
We ventured across the bridge from Wales for our first time @ Wonky's - It was awesome, awesome, awesome! The music, the crowd, the atmosphere was fabewelous... we will be making a visit again soonly x x x x
